1. Multimedia Learning Principles in African Contexts

Examining Clark & Mayer’s Multimedia Principles and Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML) in mobile-first, resource-constrained settings.

  • How can multimedia design reduce cognitive load when connectivity is limited?
  • How can cultural storytelling be integrated into multimedia instruction?
  • What adaptations are needed for African learners?

2. Generative AI for Rapid Content Adaptation

Investigating how AI tools can accelerate course design while ensuring accuracy and inclusivity.

  • How can generative AI help scale educational resources in Africa?
  • What frameworks ensure explainability and ethical use?
  • How do humans and AI collaborate in instructional design?

3. Educational Resilience in System Transitions

Understanding how learners adapt when educational systems undergo reform (curriculum shifts, digital adoption).

  • What fosters resilience during times of change?
  • How do mindset, scaffolding, and digital readiness shape learner outcomes?
  • How can policy and practice better support transitions?

4. Actionable Data in Learning Design

Exploring how to move beyond surface-level metrics to granular, actionable insights.

  • How can data capture real learning progress in online courses?
  • How do we design iteration loops that improve courses over time?
  • What ethical considerations arise in using learner data for improvement?

Future Directions

These research areas align with my goal of pursuing a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction / Learning Sciences. My focus is on rethinking learning theories for African contexts, leveraging AI in education, and creating frameworks that bridge research and practice.
